It’s Tuesday, 1:58pm. It’s raining and I’m at home in the industrial loft I currently share with six other urbanites; right in the heart of Toronto’s Fashion and Entertainment Districts. Viva La Vie Boheme! I’m single and it’s my day off. I’m sipping a piping hot, overflowing venti Tazo Refresh, with a very generous squeeze of honey, and indulging with a warmed butter croissant in my favourite oxford shirt and rolled jeans. Listening to ‘Gay Beach Hits’, my go-to Viva Radio playlist, and typing this I couldn’t help but wonder about the possibilities this might present.
To be honest, I’m relatively new to the dating scene and have only been in a few, short-term, relationships…by choice. I’m ready and willing to jump in with both feet, but I’m intuitive…and almost to a fault. Like everybody else, I’m looking for balance, self-awareness, commitment, confidence, honesty, loyalty, humility, integrity and a super-human sense of humour. I take risks and make bold requests and I’d like him to, too. Geeky fact: I’m really into astrology. I’m a Taurus, so, he’d have to be a Virgo, Scorpio, Cancer or Capricorn…and, at this point, I’ve pretty much made that a requirement. Call me picky, but I believe that specificity is key, especially when it comes to matters of the heart.
A little bit about me: I’m twenty-three going on thirty…to some. I’ve lived downtown and have for a few years and couldn’t be luckier. This may seem premature, but I would consider Toronto home. I’ve always envisioned traveling and living abroad as being part of my story, but I find solace in having a base and that would be Toronto, for me. I’m a creative spirit interested in all things arts & entertainment. I’m also a pretty good listener and give pretty direct and honest advice. I’m nothing if not frank. I have about ten tattoos and love the benefits of hot yoga.
I’m currently a panelist on MTV Canada’s 1 Girl 5 Gays, which is like ABC’s The View with Aliya-Jasmine as the moderator, and 5 gay men expressing their views regarding the weekly ’20 Questions about Love & Sex’…and, of course, a bit of celebrity gossip. It’s an opportunity that I am grateful for and honoured to be part of. It’s also a television program, so groundbreaking and progressive, that I can’t help but be proud of for what it’s doing for the LGBTQ community in North America.
