I’ve always wondered why these things are so hard to write. Like most, I feel that I’m a fairly straightforward person – you know, I enjoy the same generic activities everyone lists on dating sites: reading, cooking, watching movies/T.V, exercising, hangin’ with friends etc. – but for some reason I can never type something I’m completely satisfied with. Maybe it’s the nature of the beast. That to sum up the whole of person in a single blog post or in the ‘about me’ text box on an online dating site is an impossible feat, or maybe I have it all wrong to begin with and that’s not the actual intention of these things, that they’re sorta like a movie trailer designed to give the viewer a sneak peek at the best and most attractive parts of the feature. So, with the guiding philosophy of the latter realization, here’s a snapshot of yours truly :)
I’ve done a bit of time teaching in Thailand, did my undergrad in Montreal, and now I’m finishing a masters in public admin from UVic and working for the feds in Ottawa. For the past few years I’ve been putting minimal effort into dating in general, but figure this is a good way to throw myself out there and see what kind of bites I get. I feel like I’m finally in a spot where I have time and energy to actually get to know someone past how many siblings they have and what their favorite movies are. This isn’t to say that I’m only looking for a long-term deeply profound relationship, but I am at the very least open to it. I want to meet someone I can travel, eat, sleep, and laugh with. Someone who has a serious side but at the same time can appreciate how politically incorrect I can be. I guess I’m looking for someone who I can share some sort of emotional/physical connection with.
I don’t really have a type, so I’m very open in terms of age/race/physical features. However, intelligence and humor are really big turns on for me, so if you can make me laugh and you know how to read and write a grammatically correct email, it’s a good start.
