New York City, New York
Added: June 22, 2011

I'm what they call a "Nuyorican." That's the label given to a native New Yorker of Puerto Rican descent. I was raised in the Bronx, and lived in Los Angeles for seven years while I pursued a dance career in the entertainment industry. I moved back to New York last summer, and now reside in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of the city.

When I moved back to New York, I decided to start writing a blog about my search for love as a gay man in his late 30s. Still the eternal optimist, I wanted to chronicle my experiences in hopes of providing inspiration to others who question if old-fashioned romance is still worth believing in. I named my blog Naked In New York City since I feel I am at a point in life where I'm extremely open and honest (emotionally naked) about what I am looking for in a partner. Although the blog is mainly about the dating issues I deal with, I began making the occasional commentary about aspects of gay culture that I find intriguing. The combination of dating stories and gay lifestyle commentaries has really registered with readers, and I have a nice audience for a seven month old blog. I'm moving forward with work on my first book. It'll be a memoir that will detail interesting bits about a life that has been eventful, and at times wild -- my L.A. years alone could fill one book! Hopefully, the book will be completed by the end of the year.

The guy who will be my match will be someone who will laugh with me, and not at me. He will build me up and support my endeavors, as opposed to knocking me down. I've learned the hard way that challenges and games are best left in the sports arena, and they have no place in a relationship. I enjoy being social, but I don't define my life as a gay man by constantly being in the bars and clubs. My ideal mate wouldn't either. Most importantly, I believe that romance and monogamy can still exist in our internet/social networking era.
