I’m originally from the Midwest (Chitown baby!) and moved to Manhattan a couple years ago to study music at NYU. After graduating I began work on my music career, writing songs from my tiny studio apt in Hell’s Kitchen. Living in New York has been a wild ride that I wouldn’t change for anything – I’ve met amazing people and experienced a lot of crazy things. The past year in particular has been incredible for my career: releasing tons of new music, performing live and filming my first ever music video.
It’s so funny to me when people ask me what I am looking for in a mate because every guy I have ever dated has always been so drastically different from the guy before. I try to look past what’s on the outside and look at what is on the inside. I love a guy with a great sense of humor, an outgoing personality and a quick wit. Someone who can roll with the punches and make even the worst of situations fun. I’m just looking for someone cool to share my life with. You’d think by reading MY BLOG I was asking for a Jesus Christ reincarnate but I’m simply just looking for someone who’s not a dick.
My ideal guy would be someone who is successful in his own mind, but humble, and who is always nice to people. He would see me for me, by getting to know me personally, and not by anything he thinks he can read or watch in pop culture. It’s rare, but I love meeting a guy who doesn’t watch TV or read gossip, and who finds gossip to be as pointless and low-life as I do. He has something more interesting to talk about than other people. I would like to be with someone who has his own career, goals, and aspirations separate and different from my own.
What am I looking for in a man? Hmmmm. Well I like a man who is passionate. Not just in the bedroom, I want a man who has a passion for life. Much like me, I want someone who is driven, busy, on-the-go, and not sitting at home all the time watching TV and playing video games. I need someone who is understanding that I maintain a pretty hectic schedule, but likes to tempt me to break it. I like a guy to be spontaneous and a bit romantic. Someone who will take me on an unexpected road trip upstate to picnic or whisk me away to the beach for a mini weekend vacation.
The guy who will be my match will be someone who will laugh with me, and not at me. He will build me up and support my endeavors, as opposed to knocking me down. I’ve learned the hard way that challenges and games are best left in the sports arena, and they have no place in a relationship. I enjoy being social, but I don’t define my life as a gay man by constantly being in the bars and clubs. My ideal mate wouldn’t either. Most importantly, I believe that romance and monogamy can still exist in our internet/social networking era.
